Prof. Michele Wells -- "Easter”
“So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him.” – Matthew 28:8-9
Rejoice! This word means to take delight. Jesus told the women to rejoice; to take delight in Him. Their response was to worship at His feet. As we rejoice in the Resurrection of our Savior let us not only take delight in Him in this season but every day. How can we perpetually take delight in and worship at the feet of Jesus? Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” We are admonished to reflect Christ in all things at all times. We live the resurrection of Christ through a life that is surrendered. When thoughts and actions are reflective of worshipping at the feet of Jesus then we rejoice without words. We become an example of the risen Savior.
What a great gift to serve a Savior that is alive and living inside of us. Jesus promised the Helper in John 14:26: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” Because of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ the Spirit now abides with us and guides us in all truth (John 14:15-18). Hallelujah! We worship and serve a Savior that has risen and is alive! In this we REJOICE!
