Dr. Sandra Gray – “Ever Present Wind”

January 16, 2014

“After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit.” – Acts 4:31

The Holy Spirit is described in Scripture as the wind.  I love this description, for we all know when the wind is present; we see evidence of the wind and know of its power.  A mother, describing a magical moment with her young daughter, heard the young girl say, “I’m going to catch the wind,” and began running through the gusts and bursts, flowing with the sway of the wind, feeling her hair blow across her face and her clothing ripple with the strength of the wind.  Though the young girl did not catch the wind, the wind, metaphorically, caught her.  She was energized by the power and presence which brought joy and freedom to her spirit.

A sailor knows the wind is always present, even when it seems perfectly still. Likewise, the winds of the Holy Spirit are ever present.  Today, allow the Holy Spirit to flow through you.  Experience the “rushing wind” of God.   Invite the Holy Spirit to sweep through your life, to breathe His blessings and love upon you, and to fill you with His sweet presence.

… Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me …[1]
