Dr. Lynn Shmidt – “Welcome to 2014!”

January 01, 2014

The most common greeting today is, "Happy New Year!"  On this first day of 2014, let's think about some new things we find in scripture.

“God's compassion is new every morning” (Lamentations 3:23).

“Jesus' shed blood opened a new covenant to us all” (1 Corinthians 11:25).

“He puts a new song in our hearts, a song of praise to our God” (Psalm 40:3)

“God gives a new heart and puts a new spirit in you.  He says, ‘I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh’” (Ezekiel 36:26).

“We were buried with Christ through baptism into death in order that, just as He was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life (Romans 6:4).

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

May God be with you and give you a blessed New Year.
